三鷹市にて小笠原桑の原木を買取させて頂きました。お客様からお伺いしたところ大変希少なものだそうで、磨くと漆黒の艶が出る銘木とのこと。早速乾拭きで磨いてみたところ深い黒褐色の輝きが出てきました。見れば見るほど銘木と実感させられます。小笠原諸島のみに自生していた固有種だそうで、現在は絶滅危惧種に指定されているそうです。希少なものですから銘木がお好きな方に引き継げるようにしたいと思っています。

We recently purchased a log of Ogasawara mulberry wood in Mitaka City. According to our customer, this is an extremely rare variety of fine wood that develops a jet-black luster when polished. When we immediately tried polishing it with a dry cloth, a deep black-brown sheen emerged. The more I look at it, the more I realize just how exceptional this wood truly is. It is said to be an endemic species that once grew only in the Ogasawara Islands, and as it is now designated as an endangered species, it is a rare find. We would very much like to pass this fine wood on to someone who appreciates it.
