We recently purchased an exquisitely carved Tankei inkstone (Duan inkstone). It is a wonderful piece featuring detailed carvings of plum branches with small birds, along with a distinct natural “eye” (shikigan) in the stone. For this transaction, the customer brought the item in after making an appointment, and we conducted the appraisal and purchase.
